Tuesday 6th February – ACCESS Day at HVS.
Year 7 welcomed Eagle Radio who spent the day discussing the pitfalls of social media, what is acceptable and what is not and how to stay safe when on-line They were then tasked with designing a one page E-Safety poster or leaflet aimed at Year 6 pupils joining HVS.
Year 8 were exploring their choices for next year. During tutor time they were given a series of tasks and questions by which to prepare themselves for the day ahead and were then given the opportunity to try 4 new lessons throughout the day.
The students were given an article written about a famous sports personality and her rise to fame in the 2012 olympics. Their task was to study the article and photograph and discuss what it was they felt attracted them to the article and highlight some of the key/important words.
Exploring some of the basic principles of business and international trade
By the end of the session, the students were able to:
- Identify some of the things that businesses need to be successful
- Explain some of the challenges businesses in different countries face
- Understand what kind of things Business and Enterprise covers
The students were asked to design a brand new lego concept.
The students were given a series of tasks, quizzes and games centred around the theory side of the GCSE PE.
Year 9 spent the day exploring ways to achieve good mental health and emotional wellbeing through the following areas:
- Understanding others
- Real-life scenarios
- The other side of mental heath
- Physically and personally through Yoga
