Our second open evening was held on October 16th at the Dianthus Centre in Woking. The evening was well attended by local parents and children. A number of local councillors were also there to hear about this exciting new school.
The children took part in various activities organised by The Supersonic Science professor, (scienceentertainer.co.uk), Lesley Collier, our local Kumon Maths Tutor, Explore Learning and the amazing Woking Sea Cadets, who camouflaged the children and then taught them how to tie knots and rig a boat.
Meanwhile the parents heard from our inspirational Head Teacher Ms Penelope Alford and other members of the project team. Penny talked about how she plans to deliver an exciting and varied curriculum, focusing on high results in Maths and English whilst also ensuring the children are enthused and engaged and have plenty of time to pursue vocational paths. Full of enthusiasm and with the right experience to lead our smaller than average school, Ms Alford is the perfect Head Teacher for Hoe Valley School. Parents were really excited by the vision of Hoe Valley School and were invited to apply, via Hoe Valley’s own application process, if they wished to secure a place for their child at this brilliant new school.
We plan another Open Evening on Wednesday 12th November at 7pm at The Dianthus Building, Wishbone Way, Goldsworth Park, Woking, Surrey, GU21 3RT. We are very grateful to be able to use the Dianthus Building for our open evenings and everyone is welcome to attend. When we open, our school will be located in South Woking (the precise location will be confirmed as soon as the legal process allows), and not in Goldsworth Park.
