Students at Hoe Valley School played host to representatives from a variety of different faith groups today. During the day, students visited each of 5 ‘stations’ in which they learnt a little bit about Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. The day aimed to give students a basic understanding of the diverse religious beliefs and practices within Britain today, and help them see similarities between themselves and the different groups, as well as the differences. Students practised tying a turban and performed some guided meditation as well as having an opportunity to ask questions about the different faiths.
The students did very well (despite the heat) and our visitors commented on the fact that our students were asking, as well as answering, lots of questions.
