Match Report – Year 7 Netball

Posted on 10/10/2016 by Tracy Wright

Final Score: 16-8

We took 7 strong netballers to Winston for our first game with a group high spirited girls ready to give their best. The first quarter was end to end with every member of the team putting in the work, each time Winston scored HVS replied, just before the break Winston managed to sneak a point and lead 4-3. Despite valiant efforts our 2nd quarter was not quite as successful and we fell a few points behind. Regrouping during the half time team talk and with biscuits on offer from Manon’s mum, the girls started putting in their best netball. Jasmine and Natacha begun working well together and defending with force, preventing a number of points being scored by Winston. We were moving well in the attacking third but the hoop seemed to shrink, 3 shots in a row rolling around the rim and falling out. With a boost from their performance in the 3rd quarter the girls were set to go and had a ‘never give up’ attitude, no longer worried about the results but their ability to work as a team and improve for the future challenges. The final quarter brought our best netball, both as individuals and as a team. The defence improved further with swift and aesthetic movement from the attacking players. Charlotte M and Charlotte B were performing as if they were linked by the brain, producing numerous one-twos to create opportunities to get the ball into the D. Once the ball had moved forward Hannah begun to cause many issues for the defenders getting into excellent shooting positions. Unlike the previous quarter the hoop did not deny her as she shot a number of points during the quarter. Despite the final score the performance from the girls was superb, their attitude was perfect and they continued to improve throughout the game. The future looks bright as these girl play together more.
