Year 8 Netball – Match Report

Posted on 17/01/2017 by Tracy Wright

Opposition: Kings International College, Camberley
Team:  Hannah, Charis, Niamh, Merel, Tamzin, Willow & Charlene
Final Score:  Kings 20 – HVS 0
This was the first game after the Christmas break and it had been a number of weeks since the girls had trained. This showed in the first quarter when Kings were quicker to the ball and moving much smoother. They took a healthy lead which would be difficult to return from. HVS improved in the second quarter as the movement and team work began to improve. The girls were starting to link a few passes and create some attacking opportunities. In the third the passing improved and matched the movement as the game became more even. Kings were strong at taking their chances and continued to score. In the final quarter the girls proved what they can do, their fight increased and they wanted every ball, taking control of 50/50 situations and using the ball more effectively when passing. Kings were getting frustrated at not being able dominate like they had in the first quarter. They managed 1 point in the final quarter and were under pressure from the HVS girls at every pass and shot. It was tough coming back into a game with little practice but the girls showed the potential they have in the final 7 minutes.
