Year 7 Netball – Match Report

Posted on 25/01/2017 by Tracy Wright

Opposition: Tomlinscote, Camberley
Team:  Jasmine, Natacha, Manon, Charlotte B, Charlotte M, Hannah & Freya

Final Score:  HVS 11 – Tomlinscote 8

This was the first game after the Christmas break and it had been a number of weeks since the girls had trained, so rustiness was expected at the start of the game.   This however was not the case, the girls took no time at all to begin moving and passing smoothly. Against a good attacking Tomlinscote side the girls took a 3-2 lead into the second quarter. Tomlinscote alternated their squad each quarter between their A and B team,  against the B team the girls got more into their stride and the speed of attack along with the decision making was superb and the girls started to draw away and took a 6-4 lead into half time.

The girls were working hard and fitness could have been an issue after no training for such a length of time. However they kept moving and passing at a good pace which made them difficult to defend. Tomlinscote improved in the 3rd quarter and came back to take a 8-7 lead.

In the final quarter it was all to play for, however the girls continued their excellent attacking play which meant they were able to secure 4 more points before the quarter ended.
