Chess Tournament – 21.6.17

Posted on 23/06/2017 by Tracy Wright

Four students entered a three school chess tournament with Woking High and Gordons. The tournament consisted of players ranging from year 7 to year 11. Each player was ranked by the school and entered into two groups each consisting of four matches. Each match was a timed 30 minute match.

The HVS players had a good first round with three out of the four players winning their first match. The second round did not go so well and with some accidental errors by the HVS players resulted in all four players losing round two.

The results from the four matches:  two players from Gordons played for first and second, Woking High and another Gordons player played for third. Alex was in the match for fifth. Jiayi played for seventh and Connor and Zaki played each other for ninth.

The final result:
Alex 6th, Jiayi 7th, Connor & Zaki 9th (joint)

Well done boys.
