Rounders Match Report – 26.6.17

Posted on 27/06/2017 by Tracy Wright

Opposition: Sir William Perkins (SWPs) & Salesian

Team:  Gracie, Daisy, Amelia D, Victoria, Kiah, Olivia, Charis, Shiwani & Merel

Match 1:  Against SWPs in the first game and managed to scored 2 full rounders. It wasn’t our best batting display but our knowledge meant we were able to steal bases here and there. When fielding we were strong and secure, with good communication and knowledge of how to stop the batters scoring. With good bowling from Gracie we also limited them to only 2 rounders in total. We however had 3 outs, and SWPs had been stumped or caught 6 times. A stat that would prove vital at the end of the tournament.

Match 2:  The second game pitted us against Salesians, who had a strong batting line up. A few errors in the field gave them a tough 10 and a half rounders to catch. We went in batting with a large score to chase, the batting was much improved and we were hitting halves and full rounders more consistently. The fielding was quick from Salesians which meant we couldn’t steal as many extra halves as we would like. We managed to keep our outs low again and finished with a very respectable 6 and a half rounders.

After counting the scores at the end, Salesians had won the tournament. Both HVS and SWPs had ended with the same points difference. This meant it went to number of outs in the games, which HVS had had considerably less of, meaning we came 2nd in the tournament.
