On Tuesday 17th July HVS students headed for Sheerwater Athletics Track for House Sports Day.
The students took part in a variety of track and field events including shot, long jump, 100m and 300m.
HVS staff also competed in a 75m race for their house!
Well done to everyone who took part.
Last night and we were treated to an engaging performance of Alice in Wonderland. Students demonstrated the strong performance skills of our Drama Club who were brilliantly directed by our Head of Performing Arts, Mr Gouveia and our Head of English, Ms Taylor-Wareham. The audience were captivated throughout and congratulations to all involved in this successful performance.
On Friday 24 November some of our year 7’s visit Brooklands Museum. Here is what our student reporters had to say:
“We went to the hanger and did wire bracing and learnt how an aeroplane was built. We also made our our own planes and designed new ones on the computer. We got to go on the racing car VR and many of us enjoyed the real life experience of riding a formula 1 car.”
By Matthew, Year 7
“When we made the planes we had to bend the metal so it looked like a real plane. We then went to the 4D cinema and got to experience the Red Arrows flying. We looked at many exhibitions including cars and planes. We got to sit on a plane like a real pilot.”
By Louis, Year 7
Our students have completed the first ACCESS day of the academic year.
Year 7 explored London. Two of the tutor groups visited the Portrait Gallery and two visited Charles Dickens’ House.
Year 8 analysed the journey of a refugee as part of their British Values project.
Year 9 strategised over how to make maximum profit out of a catering arm they had to set up at school.

Our Survival Skills day involved the students working together on a series of survival activities which ended with them building spaceships for an egg drop. Woking News and Mail joined us for some of the day so look out for us in next week’s edition!
This what two of our students had to say:-
“Today we worked together on the lava pit – it became really hard when I was the last one left. The team all worked together to rescue me”.
“I have made lots of new friends today and loved the maze task”.
