Head Teacher’s Message

Jane Davies

I am delighted to be leading the School this year in our brand new campus on Egley Road. Our aim at HVS is for every student to experience a first class education where they can achieve their highest potential. As a Google School, HVS prepares our students for a 21st century world.

The strong values of our School and our unrelenting focus on inspirational teaching ensures our students are happy, confident learners who make exceptional progress. We were delighted that this was recognised during our Ofsted inspection in June 2018, leading to the Outstanding judgement.

We believe that students thrive when they feel best supported, safe and happy. At HVS we provide a moral framework for students to live their lives by and we are proud to be growing a community of learners who are both tolerant and empathetic of one another, allowing each individual to flourish.

All of the staff at HVS are committed to ensuring that our students leave the School knowing how to confidently take up their place in the world.  We ensure this in three ways:

  1. Excellent Academic Outcomes: We offer a five year GCSE programme which ensures all students are motivated and challenged from the beginning and that no learning time is wasted. The extended school day means we can deliver an academically rigorous range of subjects along with additional time for English and Maths.  Our students are therefore not only highly literate and numerate but can access other areas of the curriculum in more depth and with a critical and questioning mind.
  1. Students are ‘work ready’: Our curriculum is mapped against the skills students need to succeed in life beyond education. Students work through a number of projects with experts from different industries to consolidate these skills which explicitly links their learning to the world of work.  This ensures students are applying their academic learning to real life contexts, exposes them to different potential career paths and prepares them for the world of higher education.
  1. Good Citizens: Everything we do is underpinned by our CIRCLE values to ensure we are developing thoughtful, responsible citizens.

We invite you to come and see for yourself what makes us different and our students so successful, independent and happy

Best wishes,

Jane Davies
