Hoe Valley School Students Celebrate Strong GCSE Results
Students and staff at Hoe Valley School are celebrating another strong set of GCSE results today, with nearly 70% of students achieving passing grades in both Maths and English.
The school is particularly pleased with the high performance at the top end of the results, with over a quarter of all grades awarded being grades 9-7 (25.11%). Overall, 60% of students achieved a strong set of five GCSE grades between 9 and 4, including both Maths and English.
Mr. Kelly, the Acting Headteacher, expressed his delight with the results. "I am absolutely thrilled for our students. These results are a testament to their incredible hard work and resilience over the past two years. We are pleased with what they have achieved and I want to wish all our students the very best with their next steps , and I look forward to welcoming many of them back in September to our fantastic Hoe Valley School Sixth Form."
A Level Results 2025
Students at Hoe Valley School are celebrating a fantastic set of A-Level results today, with a significant number achieving top grades and securing their next steps in education or employment.
The results highlight the hard work and dedication of both students and staff, with over a third of all grades awarded being A*-B (35%). A remarkable 17% of all grades were at the top tier of A*-A alone, demonstrating exceptional academic achievement across a number of subjects. Furthermore, the overall pass rate remained consistently high, with 96% of all grades being A*-E.
Acting Head Teacher Mr Kelly expressed his pride in the students' accomplishments stating, "I'm delighted with the effort and resilience shown by our A-Level students this year, it’s certainly not been easy for them and they’ve stuck at the task, despite building works and other setbacks" he said. "This cohort has not only achieved great academic results, but have also developed the skills and determination necessary to succeed in the future. They are truly 'work ready,' and I have no doubt they will thrive as they embark on their exciting journeys, whether that's at university or by heading straight into the world of work."
EBacc
The English Baccalaureate (EBacc) is an accountability measure for schools in England. It measures the proportion of students who achieve a pass in English, Maths, Science, a humanity (History or Geography) and a language GCSE. Arts subjects are not included. At Hoe Valley School we offer French, German, Spanish and Latin as languages, but students can also sit exams in other languages they speak. For example, we have had students sit their Cantonese, Turkish and Russian GCSEs amongst a number of others. If your son or daughter wishes to take a GCSE in a home language, please do let us know and arrangements can be made to support this.
In the Summer 2025 exams, 40.1% of our students were entered for the EBacc suite of qualifications and their EBacc average point score was 4.15.
Given the uneven impact of the pandemic on school and college performance data, the government has said you should not make direct comparisons between the performance data for one school or college and another, or to data from previous years.
