Get Involved! – HVS PTA Update 1st July 2022

Secondhand Uniform Store– we have a number of items of secondhand uniform which will be available very soon.  Please keep an eye on the website for more details.  If you have any spare or ‘grown out of’ uniform we would be grateful for all donations!

Wellbeing Garden – We have now settled on 3rd to 5th August for the working party to build the Well-Being Garden which we hope will form a relaxing oasis for students – and teachers. If you can spare any time on these days do please let us know, the more you can help, the more we can get done. No particular skills are required just willing hands. We are still looking for a tree surgeon and friendly garden centres or timber merchants. If you have contacts do please let us know.

Future Events

We are looking to hold a Christmas Market at HVS at the end of November, with stalls selling gift items,  refreshments and much more. If you are interested in having a stall at this event please email pta@hoevalleyschool.org to register your interest.

Welcome

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and current Hoe Valley families. As PTA members we work with the school and local community to raise funds for additional school resources and we also organise social activities throughout the school year. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team of parents, guardians and teachers who want to make a positive contribution to school life.

We know many of you will have had your fair share of cupcake baking, burger flipping and Pimms and lemonade serving at your children’s primary school fundraisers, and that joining secondary school probably made you breathe a huge sigh of relief. As parents we recognise that at secondary school a PTA needs to offer something a bit different, so we aim to find inventive ways of supporting the school both financially and in other ways that are effective, fun and much less onerous on your time.

At Hoe Valley, the PTA warmly welcomes new members, whether it is to help out when they can at PTA supported events, attend PTA meetings or stand in one of the committee positions. Remember that getting involved is a great way to meet other like-minded parents while building a strong school community. We’re also open to any suggestions for fundraising or social activities you may have. Inspiration is always needed!

If you run your own business, please consider sponsoring a school event or one of our sports teams. If you are employed, find out if your employer could donate a gift or voucher as a raffle prize.

Every parent/carer at HVS is a member of the PTA and everyone is welcome to attend PTA meetings but we know it’s often not easy to fit it in around other commitments.  If you would like to be involved in any way,  or have an idea for an event,  or would be able to attend meetings if they were held at a different time please do get in touch via pta@hoevalleyschool.org.  We welcome all support and want everyone in our school community to feel included.
